Former football player turned TV personality Shannon Sharpe recently learned a lesson in Hollywood hierarchy when his conversation with paparazzi was interrupted by none other than singer and actress Selena Gomez.
Sharpe was chatting with photographers outside of a popular Los Angeles restaurant, Giorgio Baldi, when Gomez unexpectedly appeared behind him on her way to her car.
The camera guy quickly shifted his attention to Selena, asking Sharpe to pause his thoughts on Team USA’s performance at the FIBA World Cup so he could capture footage of the former Disney star.
After getting his shots of Gomez, the photographer returned to Sharpe and apologized for the interruption. However, the ESPN host took it in stride, saying, “Nah, bro. You’re good.”
The two then continued their conversation about sports, with Sharpe praising Deion Sanders’ successful season with the Colorado Buffaloes and discussing how he handled the death threats surrounding Colorado State player Henry Blackburn.
This interaction perfectly exemplifies the levels of fame in Hollywood. While Sharpe may be a big name in the sports world, it’s undeniable that Gomez is the bigger fish in the overall entertainment industry. It seems that even the most famous celebrities, like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, or Barack Obama, are not immune to the hierarchy.
