Matthew McConaughey recently obtained a restraining order against a woman who has been stalking and harassing him for over a year. According to Matthew, he filed for protection prior to an in-person event that he feared she would attend.
In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Matthew claims that the woman has been subjecting him to relentless harassment since April 2022. He mentions receiving “unhinged letters, emails, and frivolous lawsuits” from her, all in an attempt to get his attention.
The actor further alleges that the woman believes she is in a romantic relationship with him and even went as far as co-authoring his books with him. Matthew states that he has never had any contact with her and instructed his security team to treat her kindly, but to also make it clear that he does not want to engage in conversation.
Matthew reveals that the situation has escalated recently. He claims that the woman purchased a ticket to a photo op event for his children’s book, “Just Because,” in Los Angeles and intended to travel over 300 miles just to meet him.
According to Matthew, the woman also sent a threatening email to the bookstore hosting the event, confirming her attendance.
The judge agreed that the woman posed a threat and granted Matthew a temporary restraining order.
