Mary Lou Retton Beats Pneumonia and Leaves ICU

Olympic legend Mary Lou Retton has made a remarkable recovery from pneumonia and has been released from the ICU. The good news was shared by her daughter, McKenna, who expressed gratitude to the medical team and fans for their support on Instagram.

McKenna mentioned that there is still a long way to go in terms of recovery, but for now, they are celebrating the baby steps that have been taken.

Earlier this month, Retton was admitted to the ICU after contracting a rare form of pneumonia. Despite initial progress, she faced a scary setback last week. However, she managed to overcome it, much to the joy of her family.

McKenna expressed overwhelming gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this challenging time. She mentioned that words like “grateful” don’t even begin to describe their appreciation.

In addition to the emotional support, a SpotFund was set up to help with Retton’s hospital bills. The campaign received an incredible response with 8,319 donations, totaling $459,304.
