Jay-Z has a message for all the Twitter philosophers out there: take the figurative “$500,000” over having dinner with him. According to Jay-Z, all the “jewels” that fans think they’ll get from him are actually in his old albums! HOV, as Jay-Z is also known, shared his thoughts on the viral social media debate during an interview with Gayle King on “CBS Mornings.” He finally revealed his answer, at least from his perspective. In case you’re not up to date, fans have been passionately discussing this topic for years. They debate whether having just one dinner with Jay-Z is worth more than receiving $500K in cash upfront. While it’s an obvious choice for many, some argue that Jay-Z possesses the secret to create a billion-dollar empire, and having dinner with him might unlock that missing link! Jay-Z isn’t exactly disagreeing with those arguments, but he’s suggesting a $499,989.01 discount just for listening to one of his old albums! This isn’t a new concept for Jay-Z. He previously highlighted money-saving strategies in his album “4:44” released in 2017. In fact, in 2009, he famously rapped, “HOV on that new s**t, n****s like ‘How come?’ N****s want my old s**t, buy my old albums.” According to Jay-Z, he didn’t name a batch of his albums “The Blueprint” just for the sake of it. He claims that the songs in those albums represent his life’s work, and everything he rapped about ultimately became true. With over 100 million records sold, the most Grammy wins for a rapper, and his Roc Nation label still going strong, nobody questions Jay-Z’s expertise and success.
