Gypsy Rose Blanchard Granted Parole: Breaking Free After 10-Year Prison Sentence

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is breaking free! After serving a 10-year prison sentence, Gypsy has been granted parole and will be released in December, three years earlier than expected. She was convicted of second-degree murder in connection with the death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Gypsy’s release is scheduled for December 28, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections. This news comes after her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, confessed to murdering Dee Dee to help Gypsy escape her mother’s control. Nick is currently serving a life sentence.

Dee Dee was accused of forcing Gypsy to pretend to be disabled and holding her captive for years. Gypsy tried to escape and was even tied up by her mother. Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen by proxy, a mental disorder where a parent fabricates illnesses in their child for attention.

Now 32 years old, Gypsy has expressed in interviews from prison that she feels more liberated behind bars than she did living with her mother. Soon, she will have a little more freedom as she begins her life outside prison.
