George Clooney is bidding farewell to his beloved Lake Como villa after over two decades of ownership. According to Italian outlet Oggi, the actor is putting his magnificent Italian home on the market, as confirmed by a local real estate agent involved in the sale.
Yasemin Baysal, a Milan-based woman, has confirmed the rumors, stating that an agency in Milan will handle the transaction. However, she’s keeping the identity of the agency under wraps.
The sale of Clooney’s villa has attracted a lot of attention, with one potential client expressing great interest. Although the exact price has not been disclosed, last year the villa was estimated to be worth $100 million. According to the real estate agent, a more realistic asking price would be in the range of $75-$85 million.
This move is definitely a lucrative one for George and his wife Amal. They purchased the villa in 2002 for a reported $10 million from the famous Heinz family. Amal reportedly prefers the Provence region in the South of France, where they recently acquired another estate. While it may not have the same waterfront setting as their Como mansion, the new property is private, countryside-based, and even boasts its own vineyard.
George Clooney’s presence in Como has attracted significant media attention over the years. However, it seems that the Clooneys now desire a more low-key and secluded lifestyle, which their new purchase provides.
Whoever becomes the lucky owner of Clooney’s Como mansion will be living in absolute luxury. The property features an impressive array of amenities, including a private gym, theater, basketball court, vegetable garden, private docks, and a whopping 25 rooms. Mamma Mia!
