Former Lakers Player Byron Scott Reacts to HBO Series Cancellation: “I Didn’t Even Watch It!”

Former Lakers player, Byron Scott, isn’t too concerned about the cancellation of the HBO series, “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.” Scott revealed to TMZ Sports that he didn’t even watch the show.

When asked if he was disappointed that the series didn’t focus on his time with the Lakers, Scott replied, “Nah, I’m good.” It seems he’s not losing any sleep over it.

Scott explained his lack of interest in the show, saying, “I wasn’t a big fan of the show because I know a lot of it was fabricated in certain ways just to make it more interesting for the fans which is cool, that’s TV. That’s Hollywood. That’s what they do.”

Interestingly, Scott mentioned that he and his former teammates, including Magic Johnson, don’t even discuss the show. If it ever comes up, it’s their wives who bring it up.

It’s not surprising that the real Showtime Lakers, including Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, have all expressed their criticism of the series as well.

Unlike his teammates, Scott didn’t feel as strongly about it and admitted that he didn’t care all that much.

Lastly, when asked who he would want to play him if the Showtime Lakers story ever gets another chance on screen, Scott gave a pretty great answer! Unfortunately, he didn’t reveal who it would be.
