Chris Christie Disses Donald Trump, Comparing Him to Donald Duck: GOP Debate Recap

Chris Christie Disses Donald Trump, Comparing Him to Donald Duck

Former friend turned Republican rival Chris Christie didn’t hold back in criticizing Donald Trump during the GOP presidential debate. Christie accused Trump of “ducking” the debate and avoiding defending his record as the 45th President.

In a bold move, Christie directly addressed Trump during the debate, saying, “Donald, I know you’re watching, you can’t help yourself.” He continued, “You’re not here tonight because you’re afraid of being on the stage and defending your record.” And to top it off, Christie delivered a punchline, “We’re going to call you Donald Duck!”

Trump’s absence from the debate didn’t go unnoticed by other candidates. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized Trump for not showing up and claimed that he owes it to the American people to defend his record. DeSantis also blamed Trump for the country’s high inflation, pointing out the $7.8 trillion in debt added during his time in office.

The debate included five other GOP candidates, including Doug Burgum, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Tim Scott. However, none of them took a swipe at Trump the way Christie and DeSantis did.

While the debate was happening, Trump was busy giving a speech in Michigan to the United Autoworkers, who have been on strike for better wages and benefits against major car manufacturers.
