Colin Kaepernick recently reached out to the NY Jets after hearing about Aaron Rodgers‘s injury during MNF, and his letter to their general manager is quite interesting.
The first person to bring this news to our attention was none other than J. Cole. He posted a photo of the typed letter, addressed to Joe Douglas, on his X account.
Rumors have been circulating about Kaepernick’s interest in joining the Jets, but now we have the full text of his letter.
In the letter, Kaepernick acknowledges the team’s goal of winning a championship and expresses his willingness to contribute to their success by joining the practice squad.
He writes, “I would be honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to come in and lead the practice squad. I would do this with the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week.”
It’s worth noting that NFL teams have practice squads consisting of players who practice with the team but do not dress for games.
Kaepernick, despite not playing in the NFL since 2016, believes he is still a top-tier quarterback. He states, “I am sure of my ability to provide you with an elite QB option if, God forbid, QB1 goes down.”
Despite his confidence, the Jets have yet to sign Kaepernick. Instead, they recently added Trevor Siemian to their practice squad.
