Kourtney Kardashian Accused of Lying to Get Party Permit, Mayor Says
Kourtney Kardashian is facing criticism from the Mayor of Malibu, who alleges that her team deceived officials to obtain a permit for a party.
Mayor Bruce Silverstein claims that Kourtney’s event planner applied for a permit under the guise of a baby shower. The permit, titled “Emergency Expedited Permit for Large Event,” was filed for a single-family house due to parking concerns. However, it turns out that the house was rented and not owned by Kourtney.
According to the Mayor, the party was actually a promotional event for Kourtney’s health and wellness brand, Poosh. While the permit stated that 94 guests would attend the “baby shower,” approximately 600 guests showed up for Poosh.
Mayor Silverstein expressed his frustration with a statement titled, “[The] City of Malibu Continues to Place Celebrities and the Uber Wealthy Over Residents: City Staff Sells Out to Kardashian and Grants Emergency Expedited Permit for Large Event in a Vacant Single-Family Home in Private Neighborhood.” He further criticized the situation, saying, “Not a good look for the city – although it is a great ad to non-residents who want to come here and destroy the residents’ peaceful enjoyment of their homes.”
In addition, Mayor Silverstein highlighted contradictory statements regarding the nature of the event. While Kourtney’s event planner referred to it as an “influencer event” taking place at a rented house, the permit application and property owner presented it as a baby shower. The Mayor called for an internal investigation to determine if any city employees were involved in the alleged fraud.
Interestingly, the Kardashians themselves did not attend the event, which was primarily a commercial promotion. Notable celebrity guests included Diplo, Ariana Madix, and the Gorillaz.
The City Council has scheduled a meeting on Monday to address the situation and the Mayor’s requests.
